Sometimes there are weeks on the farm that feel marked by milestones—a field planted, a harvest gathered, a project completed. Then there are weeks like this one, where the beauty is found in the quiet repetition of ordinary work.

Starting a new year often brings a desire for renewal and fresh beginnings. For gardeners, January offers a unique opportunity to prepare for the seasons ahead and plant seeds —both literally and figuratively — whether they be actual seeds you're starting indoors or brainstorming your ideas by sketching the design for that new garden space for your side yard. This month is perfect for setting the foundation of a thriving garden that will flourish throughout the year.

This month, we'll be donating 1/3 of all flower sales to The Giving Field whose mission it is to feed the hungry. 100% of the food produced from their incredible garden goes to soup kitchens. Learn more about their work here and find them on Facebook for their latest happenings.

We'll be back at it tomorrow with a fresh batch of blooms at K2 Café and Carryout. 100% of the proceeds from our K2 flower sales this week will be donated to flood relief efforts in the TX Hill Country, a 50/50 split between Kerrville Pets Alive! and the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. As Lady Bird Johnson put it so well, "Where flowers bloom, so does hope." We need it today more than ever.

Spring has always been a favorite season for us. As lifelong gardeners, we have always delighted at the new opportunities the season brings.
