Where Flowers Bloom

As we're sure you are, we are still trying to make sense of the news coming from the Texas Hill Country. We are gutted, on our knees, trying to make sense of things, but in the end, we can’t make sense of any of this.
The last few days have been filled with highs and lows, hope and grief. It's been a lot to process and understand, all while trying to keep a sense of normalcy for us and our beloved seven-year-old daughter, who has so much in common with many of the victims of the flood. Through tear-filled eyes, we've been trying to keep spirits up and keep a hold on the present with her, while keeping the thoughts of our friends and fellow Texans close in our hearts.
While we’re standing here today, trying to get our feet back on the ground, trying to find ways to busy our anxious hands, one thing rings true—in this place where we feel so helpless, we do have control over one thing—it’s how we will choose to act in this next moment.
We want to challenge us all to quietly find a way to be the light in this dark, dark place we’re in right now. Be a light, bring kindness to every single person you see, talk with, pass along your way, and in each moment, share your light, because we’re all hurting. We all need to feel the warmth of light in each other.
This simple idea can nurture what is so desperately trying to get out in times like this, what is trying to take root and grow and spread and flourish, a simple single feeling that is so close to our soul, our heart, our true essence… hope. The hope of a better today, the hope of a better tomorrow, the hope that good and light will always conquer darkness.
So we leave you today with one of our favorite quotes by Lady Bird Johnson, “Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” Let the light within us—or the flowers within—grow and bloom because where there’s light, there’s hope, always and forever. We need it today more than ever.
We'll be back at it tomorrow with a fresh batch of blooms to share with you at K2 Café and Carryout. 100% of the proceeds from our K2 flower sales this week will be donated to flood relief efforts in the Texas Hill Country, a 50/50 split between Kerrville Pets Alive! and the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
Bouquets will be packaged in our mason jars with our "spread kindness like wildflowers" labels, continuing our kindness campaign: once the blooms fade, we challenge you to find a way to reuse our jar in a way that spreads more kindness in the world. Tag us on your social media accounts with your creatively kind idea and we'll pick our favorite, gifting the winner with a fresh arrangement filled with our most loved flowers.
Maybe make a delicious soul-warming soup and package it in the jar to bring to a sick friend? Fill the jar with homemade bath salts for someone who can use some extra TLC? Load the jar with your bestie's favorite chocolates when they could use a sweet pick-me-up? What ideas can you come up with? Tag us with how you'll "spread kindness like wildflowers" and maybe you'll get another arrangement on us!
